As everyone is aware, COVID-19 has had far reaching implications around the world and is impacting each and every Canadian town, city and province it touches. Our food supply plays a critical role for Canadians and this has never been more apparent than during a crisis like the one we are facing today. We at Burnbrae Farms take very seriously our role in maintaining the distribution of quality eggs to Canadian families.
Burnbrae Farms is the largest family owned and operated egg business in Canada, and we have a long history of supplying Canadians with safe, nutritious, affordable eggs and egg products and doing so in a socially responsible manner.
In response to COVID-19 we are working hard to ensure the health and safety of our employees, our customers, our consumers and our communities. Our strong hygiene and biosecurity programs that we follow for food safety, worker safety and hen welfare are our best defence as we do everything we can to combat the virus. We are reinforcing these programs with extra measures where appropriate during these extraordinary circumstances.
Today, our seven grading stations and three further processing facilities located in five provinces across the country are fully operational. In addition to our own farms, hundreds of farmers across Canada ship their eggs to us daily, ensuring a secure egg supply for our processing operations.
We have over 1500 dedicated colleagues across the country who continue to come to work each day and demonstrate their passion for ensuring that eggs continue to reach Canadian families. We are incredibly proud of our colleagues and would like to thank them for their dedication and effort during these trying circumstances. We want you to know that we are doing everything we can to keep the flow of nutritious eggs moving across this great country while we all work together to combat the crisis.
Finally, as a 6th generation Canadian family business, Burnbrae Farms and the Hudson family have been committed to farming and supporting Canadian communities for over 125 years.
